Simply put, affiliate marketing is selling without concern of all the other things that go into producing a specific product. * No employees * No inventory * No nothing other than the avaiable product So, when you sell a "widget " (the product) you get a percentage of the proceeds for doing that part of the job. Often times that percentage will be a small piece of the pie, but considering that you only did a small piece of the work it's worth it especially if you apply it to a technique like bum marketing. Basically you sign up for affiliate programs. Using these programs you create links to products and offers, and promote these links through a website or other traffic sources. If someone clicks the link, buys something or inputs their information, you get paid. Common affiliate programs out there are cj.com and linkshare.com

The basic idea behind affiliate programs is that when you become an affiliate (also called a referrer, reseller or associate), a partnership is created with the merchant – the owner of a product or provider of a service. Once you as an affiliate refer a customer to the merchant and the customer makes a purchase, you get a percentage of the sale (a commission).
